TOP 6 THINGS FASHION INDUSTRY CAN LEARN FROM SACRED GAMES (ON NETFLIX)
People are going crazy watching season 2
of SACRED GAMES (first Indian original series) on Netflix. With an amazing plot
with some brain exploding dialogues, it has become the most viewed and loved series
of this year. Being from the fashion field, I twisted some reel seems into
real-life lessons that one can actually think and learn over it. Let us see how
it worked for us:
‘Kabhi kabhi to lagta hai apun hi bhagwan hai’ – Nawazuddin
Siddiqui (From Sacred Games Season 1)
Grab the
opportunity
Fashion changes rapidly if you are not on your toes you
better be running for it soon. Sitting and waiting for a godfather to come and
give you an opportunity will never happen. You
have to take a chance and grab the offer you want. Gaitonde’s
(Nawazudin Siddhiqui) character grabbed the single moment in which he finds his
boss alone in a river, even though his only friend Mathu has abandoned the plan
and when others things have failed.
Make your mark
Ganesh
Gaitonde dies at the end of the first episode but before blowing out his own
brain, he tells Sartaj (Saif Ali Khan), “Ashwathama
hai apun, kabhi nahi marega.”
Every
day, a new trend is being envisioned and new boundaries are broken in this
industry. Your work must create a
huge positive impact on people that they remember your name even
if you leave that particular firm.
Be a risk taker
Gaitonde often said: ‘Kabhi kabhi to lagta hai apun hi bhagwan hai’.
He loved to believe in himself. a small
line but a strong point. Basically, in fashion industry nobody has the time to train anybody.
You have to be your own unless you have big contacts. So simple mantra, when nobody believes in you have to follow and do what is correct. Take risk to create your niche
and the world be yours.
Choose quality over quantity
When
Katekar, is pressured to investigate the disappearance of a young man from a
Muslim slum. Katekar dies in this episode, and Sartaj ends up killing Katekar’s
murderer. Katekar is then cremated, and Sartaj
kills his old self turning into somebody new.
This
episode reminds that to sustain for long in the market, you have to bring quality change and create new
stuff for future. Every season demands some innovation and
freshness.
Never stop trying
When Gaitonde proclaims that one day Kukoo
will be his, everyone thinks he is just being too ambitious. He is not even
allowed to enter the club where Isa’s men and Kukoo meet every night. Gaitonde never stopped because of his present,
he did overcome and made his future. I believe this same kind of
spirit should be there in every fashionista as the sky is the limit.
Brain over money
In a world run by guns and muscle power,
he stares right back at the monster with courage– that, right there, is when he
wins over the town. Ganesh Gaitonde
becomes the undisputed god of Mumbai’s underbelly. Not with power, but with
sheer courage. Same goes with the people who are creative but have no
money to start with. Guys, justgenerate the idea and explode it in fashion (only field who welcomes everything).
I
am sure after reading this you will bendto agree with me at some point. The above is just a small fun
read to storm your brain a little. Let us know if you have any thought to
